Get to know Scenic City Clay Arts

  • Our mission is to share access to all things clay through collaborative education in a community studio. Scenic City Clay Arts sees an inclusive community where all people can consistently experience creative self-expression with clay.

  • We seek to provide clay arts education for anyone who wants to experience it. Working with clay as a creative outlet is a unique experience, and one that is not readily available to many. We believe in breaking down barriers and providing clay arts to everyone, regardless of age, skill level, or socioeconomic status.

  • We are all caretakers of Scenic City Clay Arts’ mission, vision, and safe creative space. How our community treats each other— our studio members, staff, students, instructors, and visitors— will determine how Scenic City Clay Arts is represented to others.

About us

Scenic City Clay Arts is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization providing clay arts experiences through pottery classes, studio memberships, and community outreach programs. Located in Chattanooga, TN, we serve a regional community of southeast Tennessee and north Georgia.

Since receiving its nonprofit status in 2016, SCCA fills the need in the Chattanooga area for an active community studio space for both emerging and experienced potters. Members and students alike make this space their home: as a creative outlet, an escape, a safe space, and an environment of curiosity and learning.

  • Clay Arts Education

SCCA values quality clay arts education and consistently provides learning opportunities to anyone who is curious about this enduring craft. We believe in doing our part to form the next generation of potters, who will carry the tradition of clay arts into the future.

  • Self-Expression & Healing

Clay arts provides opportunities for creativity and self-expression and can also be an important tool for physical and emotional support. This feeling can be especially powerful to those in need of an outlet, whether for mental therapy or physical healing.

  • A Creative Community

SCCA members are a tight-knit community of makers and artists. Members find inspiration from their studio surroundings and their relationships with each other - collaborating on projects, learning from each other, and creating bonds as a membership community.
