SCCA will hold fired classwork and/or member work for up to 30 days after it has been unloaded from the kilns. Students will be contacted about classwork pick-up via the email address upon class registration within 4-6 weeks after their final class date.

Any classwork remaining after the 30-day grace period will be considered a donation to SCCA and can be used by SCCA in a multitude of ways - used in our Smash Booth, disposed of, or sold as a donation back to SCCA.

SCCA does not offer make-up classes or extra studio time for any class sessions that you miss - no exceptions. If it’s a multi-week class, we encourage you to attend the next scheduled session and our instructor will do their best to catch you up without being too disruptive to the rest of the class. Please refer to our class cancellation policy for missing one-time classes.

If SCCA has to cancel a class due to instructor illness, weather, or other extenuating circumstance, SCCA will offer a make-up class or a refund to cover the cost of the missed session. SCCA reserves the right to choose what option from the 2 above is offered to students for cancelled classes.

SCCA Full-Access Members are permitted to bring a guest with them to actively work in the space, under direct supervision and responsibility of the SCCA member. The guest fee is $15 and the guest will only be permitted to work in the space one time only. Session Members are not permitted to bring guests.

If more than one visit is desired, then a membership will need to be purchased for the individual. SCCA reserves the right to revoke a guest pass at any time if the guest’s activity or behavior does not coincide with our Code of Conduct.

Please note that non-members cannot make use of this special guest policy. Non-members and students are not permitted to bring guests to work with them in the studio space.

Visitors are welcome anytime to observe members working, to shop in the Mug Shop, or to take a tour of the studio space, but cannot actively work in the space without being a SCCA member or current student.

Upon scheduling of your class or program, you will be charged a deposit for half (1/2) of the total program fee. Deposit must be paid within three (3) business days in order to reserve that date on SCCA's schedule. If deposit is not paid within three (3) business days, the reservation will be cancelled.

If you cancel your reservation less than 48 hours prior to the scheduled date and time, you will not receive back your deposit.

If a lesser number of students attend than were priced in the deposit, the final total can be adjusted in the final invoice.

Final invoice is to be paid at time of program or through online invoice. Final invoice must be paid within three (3) business days of the program date.

SCCA will not begin firing and completing your ceramics pieces until final invoice is paid.

Gift certificates are available for purchase! You can redeem your gift certificate credit for classes. Gift certificates cannot be used as a credit for memberships. Gift certificate codes never expire.

Physical gift certificates are not available - only digital gift cards.

Purchasing a gift certificate for the cost of a class does not sign up a person for a class. You are purchasing a gift certificate that they can redeem for a product or service.

Gift certificates can be redeemed online using the information that is emailed to you after purchasing your gift card.

Special note: Gift certificates purchased between November 2022 - January 10, 2025 were transferred to a new gift certificate system. All gift card codes from this time are inactive., but any remaining credits are still available in our new system. All gift card recipient holders (as per the information the customer inputted when the gift certificate was purchased) were notified about this transition on January 13, 2025. If your work causes any amount of damage to our kiln shelves you will be charged a $5 chiseling fee for each offending piece. If your work causes excessive or significant damage to any kiln shelf, you may be charged to replace the entire shelf. (Medium Shelf $40 | Large Shelf $55)

We charge these fees because when the kiln shelves get damaged by glaze, SCCA staff has to spend significant amounts of time fixing the damage by grinding and chiseling glaze damage, mixing and applying new kiln wash, and re-firing the kiln shelf. This can also cause us to get off track with our firing schedule.

If you are being charged for kiln shelf damage, you will receive an email from a staff member describing the incident and we will include photos of the damage. You may also be asked to attend a glaze orientation class before we will continue firing any of your work in our kilns. SCCA reserves the right to invoke any other restrictions or requirements for members or students.

SCCA sells the following studio clay bodies for use in the space from Standard Clays:

• 112 - Brown Clay

• 553 - Warm Buff

• 563 - Clayer White

• 211 - Hazelnut Brown

SCCA will fire pieces made from non-studio clay bodies under the following conditions:

• The clay body must fire to Cone 6 (2232°F)

• Clay bodies must be pre-approved by studio staff or listed on the pre-approved clay list

• Greenware will be fired, but working with wet non-studio clay bodies in the studio is not permitted.

• Artists causing damage to kilns or equipment with non-studio clay bodies will forfeit the ability to fire these materials. A damage fee of $55 will be charged per damaged shelf and must be paid before any additional work is fired. This rule will be enforced without exception, and damage only needs to occur once for these penalties to apply.

SCCA allows the use of non-studio glazes under the following conditions:

• All glazes must fire to Cone 6 (2232 degrees)

• Glazes must be pre-approved by studio staff or listed on the pre-approved glazes list

• If your work causes any amount of damage to our kiln shelves you will be charged a $5 chiseling fee for each offending piece. If your work causes excessive or significant damage to any kiln shelf, you may be charged to replace the entire shelf. (Medium Shelf $40 | Large Shelf $55)

We strongly recommend that you make test tiles for any new glazes or clay bodies. SCCA is not responsible for the outcome of any non-studio clays or glazes. Artists should keep in mind that not all Cone 6 glazes cooperate with all Cone 6 clay bodies. The Artist is responsible for purchasing their own unique clay bodies and glazes - SCCA will not include non-studio clays on our studio supply orders.

1. Eligibility:

   • The 20% member discount is available only to active Full-Access members.

   • Session members are not eligible for this discount, and it may not be shared with them.

2. Discount Applicability:

   • The 20% member discount applies to most multi-week classes and one-day workshops.

   • Excluded classes include:

     • Get Your Hands Dirty classes

   • With each class drop, we will share the discount code via:

     • Email to Full-Access members

     • The front desk (Full-Access members may call to request it if needed)

   • Old name-specific codes will no longer be valid as of January 15, 2025.

4. Personal Use Only:

   • The member discount code is for your personal use as an active Full-Access member.

   • It may not be shared with family, friends, non-members, or Session members.

5. Policy Violation:

   • Misuse of the discount code, including sharing it with ineligible individuals, violates this policy.

   • Repeated or widespread misuse may result in suspension of the discount benefit for all members or other corrective measures.

6. Applying Your Discount Code:

   • Discount codes cannot be retroactively applied to orders, and you cannot be given a credit or refund for forgetting to apply your discount code to your order.

   • It is your responsibility to apply your discount code to your class purchase order - it is not automatically applied to your order.
